GMWS 2025: A powerful and transformative gathering ahead

This year’s conference, brought to you by the New African Canadians (NAC) in partnership with multiple stakeholders, dives deep into the urgent intersections of climate change, mental health, and substance (mis)use behaviours.

GMWS 2025  examines how – among others – rising temperatures and environmental changes are affecting mental health, addictions, and wellbeing on a local and global scale. If any of the above issues impact you or your loved ones, consider joining us in Charlottetown, PEI Canada from July 31- August 3.

Why You Can’t Miss GMWS 2025:

The climate crisis is reshaping lives and health locally and worldwide. Our theme, “Heat, Health & Habits,” invites bold discussions on the innovative steps needed to foster resilience, adapt behaviors, and ensure health equity amid environmental shifts.

GMWS 2025 is more than a conference—it’s an opportunity to learn, network, and leave empowered with actionable strategies to make a real impact.

“We cannot address mental health within Black communities without acknowledging systemic racism. Recognizing the lived experiences of racialized individuals is a critical in making mental health supports truly accessible and equitable.”

Dr. Wanda Thomas Bernard, Canadian Senator & Social Worker
